To stay fit and in shape many of us use a gym or some other indoor exercise facilities during the winter months. Once the better weather arrives we take our exercise regime outdoors again.
What about our animal companions? During the long and cold winter months, many times, their exercise routines were drastically changed and shortened. Once the warmer weather arrives we can not, all of the sudden, expect our dog companions to go on a 10 km jog on Sunday morning with us, or take our horse companions for hours on a ride through the forest. No, we slowly have to build up their activity levels, as we would do for ourselves, if we would not have been exercising all winter long.
Please take it easy with your animal companions and slowly build up their stamina and their muscles. This way we can all enjoy the outdoors and each others company.
